Conference for Journalists

| The Hellenic Copyright Organization is organizing a conference with the subject: “Journalists and Mass Media Publishers. Issues of Copyright.”
The event will take place on November 8th 2007 at the Athens Concert Hall (Room MC#) from 9:00 am till 6: pm. At the conference, the Minister of State and Government Spokesman Mr. Th. Rousopoulos will deliver a greeting.
The aim of the Conference is to present and discuss current legal issues that arise within the field of Journalists and Mass Media Publishers. More specifically, in the first part there will be discussed issues like protection of journalists as authors on the Internet, the legal status of interviews, commentary of works of third parties and citation of extracts, and the relation between copyright and the right of providing information to the public. In the second part, there will be presented issues like the freedom of contracts and the authors’ rights, the rights of mass media publishers according to law 2121/1993, the newspaper as database, and in particular issues that pertain to modern technology e.g. farming, linking, meta tagging. Finally, the third part will cover the issues of collective management literary works and photographs, while at the end of the conference conclusions and proposals for legislative actions will be presented.
