CISAC (International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers) appealed against the European Commission’s Decision on Competition. Its example was followed by 22 European authors’ societies and members of CISAC. CISAC believes that the authors’ societies were not involved in practices restricting competition and consequently they have not violated competition law. In addition, it regards that the network of authors’ societies is organized so that it serves the authors’ interests in the best possible way. It also argues that the European Commission Decision brings uncertainty to right holders and users and it stops CISAC and its members from creating an alternative and consensual European licensing model for on line use of creative content.
